SAINT AGNES FOUNDATION REACHES MILESTONE IN ITS
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN FOR SAINT AGNES HOSPITAL
More than half of campaign pledged to date for hospital’s
first-ever comprehensive campus renovation
BALTIMORE – (January 13, 2009) – The Saint Agnes Foundation has reached a critical milestone in the fundraising efforts for its capital campaign. To date, $11.8 million has been raised in pledges and donations with an additional $1 million being invested in the construction of a Hackerman-Patz House. In total, the $12.8 million represents more than half of the Foundation’s overall goal of $25 million.
The $12.8 million includes pledges from the former Chair of Saint Agnes Hospital’s board of directors Albert “Skip” Counselman, the Bozzuto Family Charitable Fund, Mary Catherine Bunting, the Middendorf Foundation, the Blaustein Foundation, the Saint Agnes Foundation, the Saint Agnes Foundation and Hospital boards of directors, medical staff from Saint Agnes, and other anonymous sources.
“The community has embraced the vision set forth by Saint Agnes Foundation’s board of directors, evidenced by the remarkable support we have secured over the past year,” said Barbara Bozzuto, chair of Saint Agnes’ Capital Campaign and current chair of the Saint Agnes Hospital Board of Directors.
The capital campaign supports the $179 million renovation project launched in 2007 for capital improvements to Saint Agnes’s healthcare system in Baltimore City. Those improvements include a new patient tower, enhanced and expanded Cancer Center, renovated Emergency Room, expanded surgical suites, additional parking, and access improvements to the Saint Agnes campus. It is the first in the hospital’s 146-year history.
The Saint Agnes Foundation is organized and operated exclusively for the charitable, scientific, educational, and religious purposes of fostering the mission of Saint Agnes Hospital and Ascension Health. Last year, Saint Agnes Hospital and the Saint Agnes Foundation partnered to provide $13.3 million dollars of charity care and community benefits to patients and the Baltimore-Metro area.
